"one question for you: are you and Bobby willing to get in the water?"
"uh, YES!"
Shaila and Bobby are high school sweethearts who got married last summer. They are just about as sweet as can be and a perfect example of gentle souls. They are kind, gentle, goofy, and care deeply for each other. This session was calm and breezy as we clicked away under the shade of the mature trees at Coon Bluff.
I love seeing the personalities of my couples start to shine as the shoot goes on. When a session starts, it often starts as with an unsure smile or two as we settle into a groove. It always ends as a hilarious inside joke is whispered into an ear, and a huge laugh escapes. We will share some personal stories. We will laugh together. I will be your biggest hype girl!
These two were so kind in allowing me to explore a hot location for Arizona photographers: Coon Bluff Recreation Site. Mature trees and huge wildflowers/shrubbery line sandy pathways, creating a fairytale like setting - a cool escape from the sun. The area is clean, maintained, and not too terribly crowded. I would encourage anyone going to shoot here to maintain respect for the landscape, as well as for those using the recreation area for their restful activities (lots of people enjoy picnics and family time here). Water Users Recreation Site is A-MAZING. Sandy, pebbly beach lines the river, giving an almost coastal illusion. Huge rocky cliffs loom above. The sun sets down river, creating a lustrous glow on the calm water. If you're lucky you might even spot a horse or two.
Photos in the desert have a certain presupposition: Saguaro Cactus, rocky landscape, maybe beads of sweat illuminating the subject with a dewy glow. But lo- there are so many hidden gems to explore that truly capture one's heart. From hidden groves and lush greenery to sweeping rivers and towering bullrush. There is no place like this great state to set the stage for your love story.
