5:30 am, my alarm goes off. Worth it? I'm pretty sure it will be....6:52am, I pull into Saguaro Lake parking lot- empty. Ok, this is going to be amazing. It is rare to get the lake to yourself.
Summer months in Arizona bring the guarantee of residents seeking refuge by the water. The East Valley boasts many remarkable locations for recreation: Salt River, Canyon Lake, and Saguaro Lake, among many others. Each have their own personality and style with some more suited for floating and fishing, others for water sports. I've always loved Saguaro most of all. With beaches tucked around the shoreline and long docks stretching into the water, it has always been the most nostalgic and beautiful for my little heart.
Along with that, I have been dreaming of doing couples photos here for years. I had asked these sweet friends of mine if they would be willing to match my crazy and get to the lake early, and I was absolutely floored when they said "of course!"
Maleah and Rayden are just about as adorable as can be. Both so relaxed, laid back, and kind. They are so comfortable with each other that shooting with them felt completely natural. We played with the shadows filtering through some of the lakeside trees at first before heading to the long dock. We splashed in the water. The results...
oh. my. goodness.
scroll on the experience the dreamy morning I got to experience!
A hobbiest fisherman has his little red boat moored by the dock. It truly tied everything together in the shot as I asked them to skip along as I clicked from the shore. Just when it couldn't get more perfect a huge vulture swooped by! Hello!!!
I just didn't feel I was getting the composition that I wanted for the shots I wanted of them sitting together, so, long jeans and all, I waded onto the boat ramp. That was just right. Totally worth the soggy jeans.
Every artist has their medium. They have a preferred canvas and favorite tools. I love photography because my canvas is so broad, beautiful, bold, and ever changing. My tools are given to me when the weather decides what to do. I am so thankful to have a love for something to ever-changing. It's quite therapeutic to my little heart that craves consistency. God really does know what He is doing when He knits us together.
This nature admiring, quiet and intentional, acts of service oriented, water loving girl has found her home in the world of photography.
